Vodafone UK launches Quest for Magic Android applications V.J. | , 4:37 p.m. Aug. 10, 2009 2009-08-10

Vodafone UK is on the hunt for the cleverest Android application, and they want your creative ideas. The opportunity to submit a winning idea for the HTC Magic phone, which uses Google's Android platform, is open to everyone... so get you thinking caps on and enter here: www.vodafone.co.uk/competition

The winner will receive £1,000 cash and a HTC Magic. Ten runners up will receive the HTC Magic handset as well. Entries close on September 20th 2009.

Vodafone will build the winning application, and make it available in the Google Android market place.

The HTC is known for its wide array of impressive Android apps – from the quirky barcode (scan your product, find out where it's stocked locally), to visually amazing Street View (Google Map based 3D view of UK streets). Your application could be the next big thing for mobile phone users the world over.

So, what makes a good app? The trick is to make things easy for the user, usually by linking up a few of the phone's functions. You might want to create an app that links images, footage and songs to specific friends. You might want to make use of the HTC Magic's GPS capabilities by tracking your contacts so you know who's in the area for a beer.
