Sony Ericsson Announces the Zylo and Spiro Walkman Phones V.J. | , 11:16 a.m. April 13, 2010 2010-04-13

Sony Ericsson is set to add two brand new handsets to its Walkman series. The upcoming Sony Ericsson Zylo and Spiro phones combine all familiar music player functions of the Walkman series with social networking services that have become imperative for any new phone release.

Both handsets will be available in Q3 2010 and the pricing is still to be announced. In any case Jenny Maltesson, Marketing Business Manager at Sony Ericsson says that “by combining the best of the Walkman functionality with a myriad of social networking capabilities, Sony Ericsson Zylo and Sony Ericsson Spiro offer consumers the chance to access and get a taste of what our Communication Entertainment portfolio has to offer”.

In terms of specifications, the Zylo offers a 3.2 megapixel camera and a 2.6 inch QVGA display. Bluetooth A2DP and a microSD card slot are also present along with 260MB of internal memory. The phone has UMTS/HSPA and quad-band GSM an FM radio. The Spiro comes with a modest 2 megapixel camera, a 2.2 inch QVGA display, Bluetooth, FM radio but no 3G.

The Zylo and the Spiro will be released to “select” markets in Q3 this year. Prices have not been announced but there is no reason to consider the two phones expensive.
