Samsung Omnia 2 launched in the Gulf V.J. | , 6:08 p.m. Aug. 5, 2009 2009-08-05

Samsung has recently launched another full-touch smartphone dubbed the Omnia II or i8000 featuring Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. The handset is available in the region for approximately Dh2699 or $734 at major electronic outlets.

“The Omnia globally has sold millions of units, and has even exceeded Samsung's expectations,” said Sandeep Saihgal, general manager, mobile phone division, Samsung Gulf Electronics.

The Omnia 2 comes with a 3.7 inch Amoled display which is 1000 times faster than TFT LCD displays. The handset comes with the TouchWiz 2.0 user interface, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and WiFi capabilities. The handset comes with 48 GB of memory.

The handset currently runs Windows Mobile 6.1 but will be updated to 6.5 upon the new OS update release. Users can benefit of everything the mobile Microsoft Office has to offer including World, Excel, view PowerPoint and Outlook.

The Omnia 2 comes with a 5 megapixel camera with video recording capability and advanced GPS navigation system.

The Samsung Omnia 2 phone is available at all major electronic outlets in the region starting today (August 5).
