Nokia lines-up the N79 Eco V.J. | , 4:11 p.m. Jan. 20, 2009 2009-01-20

The new N79 Eco is a brand new Nokia handset that is already available for pre-order on the company’s website. The handset comes with a stylish look and it also means an effort for Nokia in trying to be more environmentally friendly.

In this matter, the N79 Eco comes without a charger as customers should use their old one. This is part of Nokia’s ‘power of we:’ strategy to reduce waste and it might actually be successful. In the same time Nokia announced they will donate 4 pounds to WWF (World Wide Fund of Nature) for every sold unit.

The WWF was founded in 1961 and has become one of the most efficient organizations fighting for the environment. The WWF has approximately 5 million supporters around the world.

Nokia is the leading mobile phone manufacturer with a gentle touch on nature. The company’s efforts to become more environmentally friendly have been vividly shown in their actions. In 2007, Nokia managed to save about 15,000 tons of material and 100,000 cubic meters of water.
