Nokia and Motorola Increase Android Team V.J. | , 11:49 a.m. Sept. 29, 2008 2008-09-29

Today’s world leading handset both in handsets sold and users is the iPhone. But the king may be overthrown in the near future as the interest for Google’s mobile operating system increases daily.

Nokia and Motorola fully understand the power of Google Android and that it will probably rule the mobile operating system business. This, of course, is bad news for Windows Mobile as it is the sole OS that is still charging a license for its use.

Motorola does have about 50 people working on the Android team, but they have recently announced that the team will be increased to 350. Additionally, Nokia is rumored to build an Android team as well despite the fact that it owns Symbian which is running almost all S60 phones.

However, the new Google mobile operating system proved itself quite handy and the general interest in T-Mobile G1 is increasing daily. A T-Mobile spokesman said that in the future more handset manufactured by the competition will run Android and that the OS is not exclusive for T-Mobile.
