Nexus One - a cell phone by Google Sheetal Thakre | , 12:43 p.m. Dec. 21, 2009 2009-12-21

Rumored to lack multi touch, nothing has been official yet about the cell phone 'Nexus One' by Google. But still it is making news as the hype says it will surpass almost all the smart phones till date. The handset will be available directly from Google for purchase where no third party manufacturer is involved for a while.

The device is facing a tough battle with regard to its name as many believe that it bears a resemblance to the characters of the science fiction novel -'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?' by Philip K. Dick, published in 1968 and a movie based on the same - Blade Runner, a 1982 American science fiction film, directed by Ridley Scott of which many sequel were made.

As a result, the Nexus one by Google may face some legal obligations.

The Android based handset Nexus One in the form of its prototype roughly exhibit features like this: Google Android 2.1 OS, 1400 mAh battery capacity, 4.3" capacitive AMOLED touchscreen ,1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 320MB RAM and 512MB ROM, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, 3G with HSDPA and EDGE/GPRS, Bluetooth, USB, GPS with A-GPS,  5MP camera, a microSD card slot & a 3.5mm headphone jack.

HTC is believed to produce the hardware for the said device which will be possibly available in early 2010.
