New Zealand’s 3rd Mobile network launches V.J. | , 3:38 p.m. Aug. 4, 2009 2009-08-04

2degrees is the third mobile network that officially launched recently after years of delays. The company has announced low market rates with no contractual commitment. In addition 2degrees offers no contract “Pay Now” service with call and text rates.

The company says that call and text rates are half the price that Vodafone and Telecom offer their pre-pay customers. In addition, 2degrees’ rates are valid anytime of the day and week.

Eric Hertz CEO of 2degrees says "the 2degrees no contract 'Pay Now' service means that there's no more deciphering complicated plans, no commitment to a minimum spend, no need to pay for airtime never used, and no contracts."

Cellular News informs that 2degrees was formerly known as NZ Communications and then Econet Wireless. The company was given mobile license in 2001 when it formed an alliance with Hautaki Charitable Trust.
