Square mobile phones have been previously introduced into the market and have had modest success. Now, Motorola hopes that combining the unusual design with Android, their square handset will become popular.

The upcoming square phone is known as the Motorola Flipout, an interesting handset that will run Android 2.1. The phone is expected to become available with Motorola’s BLUR solution. However, details on a release date are missing.

The Motorola Flipout comes with a 2.8 inch touchscreen display and a QWERTY keyboard. The phone includes a 3.1 megapixel camera, 512MB Rom and 256MB RAM. It will come with a built-in GPS receiver and microSD memory card slot. The Flipout will work on a 700 MHz processor.

At this time, additional information is unavailable. The release date is unknown as well, however, rumors suggest that it might arrive at AT&T sometime in June and be available in three color versions.
