Motorola Motoroi in the United States? V.J. | , 11:25 a.m. June 1, 2010 2010-06-01

Motorola is preparing of the release of a new Android handset for the U.S. market. The Motorola Motoroi, also known as the Motorola XT720, was recently launched in Korea and will arrive in other countries under different names and specifications.

Reports indicate, however, that the Motoroi is doe to arrive in the United States and become available at the Cincinnati Bell wireless carrier. The phone is supposedly going to become available in the Q3 but at this time we should “take all this with a grain of salt for the time being”.

The Motorola XT720 Motoroi was made available to the Korean market with a 3.7 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen capable of offering 480 x 854 pixels resolution, an 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and Xenon flash. 729p at 20fps video recording capability is also available.

In addition, the handset with WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, HSDPA 3.6 Mbps connectivity support, 256 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM. The phone is powered by a TI OMAP3430 600Mhz processor and offers 4 hours talk time and about 300 hours in stand-by mode. The US version should come with similar specs and the UK may come with even higher specs.

In any case, Intomobile writes that “it’s a very nice, high-end device that could definitely rock flagship phone status on any of the four major carriers. Sadly, that doesn’t seem like it will ever happen”. Cincinnati Bell recently released the Bell Blaze, an Android-based handset that was sold out in a few days.

Information concerning a possible release date of the Motorola Motoroi in the United States is pretty much what you have read above. Nothing was officially announced and, in consequence, nothing is certain, the phone might very well be picked up by a major carrier, contrary to what Intomobile believes. The specs for the US version are also missing, yet we may expect the Motoroi to come with similar features as that of the Korean version.
