Motorola to concentrate on Android phones V.J. | , 12:06 p.m. Aug. 3, 2009 2009-08-03

Motorola has already announced a number of Android based mobile phones. The handsets will be basically entry level phones powered by Google’s operating system for mobile phones.

The company’s move towards Google Android is now official. Motorola hopes to reinvent its mobile phone division by concentrating more on Android powered handsets. Sanjay Jha, co-CEO of Motorola said “[The new Android-based phones] will get us back in the game in smartphones,” He also mentioned something about the company’s venture with two major US mobile operators to carry the devices.

Joss Gillet an analyst at Wireless Intelligence sees a bright future for Motorola. “Supply chain and inventories management has been improved and its new portfolio of Android-based smartphones will challenge its competitors…The task won’t be easy and we will have to wait until early next year to measure results, but in the meantime Motorola is making its stakeholders hold their breath,” he said.
