Facebook recently announced a partnership with Indian mobile carrier SMS GupShup. Together they will enable text messages for Facebook updates.

The partnership will enable Indian Facebook users to update their statuses by sending a text message, while also messaging friends and contacts. Users can opt to also receive status updates, messages and wall posts via SMS.

"We are very excited to work with SMS GupShup, given their experience with both mobile messaging and social media in India," says Henri Moissinac, director of mobile at Facebook.
