First LG Android-powered phone? V.J. | , 6:30 p.m. Feb. 25, 2009 2009-02-25

LG has recently announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that they plan to equip the one year old KS360 with the Android operating system. This is quite surprising as LG has just signed an agreement with Microsoft to release a series of 50 Windows-powered handsets.

Don’t get your hopes too high. The handset does not come with the latest features available. In fact, from the known specs the handset is probably mid-end, if not completely low-end. Anyway, the Android-powered KS 3650 comes with a slide-out QWERTY keypad and a 2.0 megapixel photo snapper.

The handset’s operating system, Android will be introduced to the KS3650 with a mind on social networking as “this year is all about social networking”, saild Marketing Manager Jeremy Newing according to Softpedia. In the same time, it seems that LG will forge more Android handsets.

One question remains, however, and that is why did LG decide to implement Android to an outdated handset when mobile social networking is performed generally with high-end phones?
