Canada Gets the Samsung J706 and the Sony Ericsson W200a V.J. | , 10:31 a.m. Aug. 11, 2008 2008-08-11

Two new handsets have been released by Canada’s largest mobile phone carrier. Rogers Wireless sent the Sony Ericsson W200a and the Samsung J706 in the Canadian market. Both devices are available with pay as you go plans.

The Samsung J706 will be available for about $115 and the Sony Ericsson W200 costs about $100. Both handsets can be ordered online Rogers’s website or Rogers’s stores. For this price the handsets are quit extraordinary and also have some pretty interesting features.

The Sony Ericsson W200a comes in white with a blue pattern and is Canada’s first Walkman handset on a Pay As You Go plan. It measures only 101 x 44 x 18 mm and weights about 85 grams. The device comes with an 1.8 inch TFT Display with 128 x 160 pixels and 65K colors, a walkman player, Sony’s MegaBass feature, access to Rogers Music Store, Fm Radio.

Additionally, the Sony Ericsson W200a has tri-band GSM connectivity with GRPS, USB, 25 MB of internal memory and a 128 MB card. It also has a VGA camera with video recording capability. The handset comes with an elegant white design which is pretty original if we keep in mind the other Walkmans out there.

Samsung J706 is a remarkably small slider measuring only 99.5 x 48 x 14.9 mm. It has quad band connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with GPRS and EDGE. It comes with 2 inch TFT display with 128 x 160 pixels and 65K colors. It also has a Music Player and a Video Player, FM Radio and Bluetooth support. In addition the handset comes with a modest 1.3 megapixel camera.

As said before, both phones can be ordered either online or from Rogers stores.
